Thomas Roney
President and Senior Forensic Economist
As an economist specializing in the calculation of economic damages, Thomas Roney offers litigation support to attorneys throughout the country. He has testified as an expert witness in court, during depositions and arbitration, and before the Special Master in Victims’ Compensation Fund matters.
Prior to opening his own firm, Mr. Roney was a Senior Economist with The Center for Forensic Economics, managing its Dallas office. In addition, he served as an in-house consultant to a national law firm as a litigation support consultant. Mr. Roney also worked with a major national accounting firm providing economic consulting services in commercial damages matters and as a senior research economist with an economic consulting firm in California, specializing in the calculation of economic losses in personal injury, wrongful death and wrongful termination cases.
At California State University, Washington State University and several California community colleges, Mr. Roney has lectured on Economic Principles and Intermediate Macro and Micro Economic Theory. He has also worked as an economist with the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Economics, and as a securitization analyst with a commercial bank.
Mr. Roney has completed all course work towards a Doctorate in Economics, Washington State University (ABD, 1983). His fields of specialization included Labor Economics and Industrial Organization. He received the Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Cum Laude, from Washington State University (BA, 1980).
Previous Consulting Services and Educational Experience
Mr. Roney has prepared quantitative and qualitative analyses and expert reports on tort cases involving personal injury, care costs and life care plans, wrongful death, wrongful termination, Jones Act, FELA, intellectual property, and commercial damages. He has been retained in more than three dozen states and testified in deposition, arbitration, and State and Federal courts.
He has performed statistical analyses of employer liability in employment practices on the basis of race, sex and age and testified in arbitration on evidence of statistical discrimination.
Mr. Roney has developed forecasts, competitive analyses and financial models for firms in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, retail, casino gambling, insurance, manufacturing, oil services and hotel businesses.
He has created, maintained and analyzed large document, image and relational databases in support of complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Roney has participated in forensic audits, statistical sampling, strategic evaluations and other projects in multidisciplinary team environments involving accountants, attorneys, economists and finance experts.
Mr. Roney has ten years of university and college teaching experience.
